Ethical norms for the publication of Journal of Wuhan University (Natural Science Edition)
In order to strengthen the construction of academic integrity, standardize the process of writing, editing, and publishing papers, and resist academic misconduct, we have formulated the ethical norms for the publication for authors, reviewers and editors of Journal of Wuhan University (Natural Science Edition) in accordance with the Copyright Law, the domestic and international publishing ethics, the press and publishing industry standard of the People's Republic of China “Academic publishing specification - Definition of academic misconduct for journals” (CY/T 174-2019), and the actual situation of this journal.
1. The publishing ethics of authors
1) the same manuscript cannot be submitted to multiple journals at the same time, and the published manuscript cannot be published repeatedly.
2) the manuscript is original and does not contain confidential information. Academic misconducts such as plagiarism, forgery, and falsification should be avoided and the author shall take sole responsibility for the manuscript.
3) all byliners of the manuscript are those who have made sufficient contributions to the research, and should not be added or subtracted arbitrarily.
4) the research involved in the manuscript conform to research ethics and provide corresponding ethical approval certificates.
5) the content of the manuscript meets the scope of our journal's solicitation, and the original data or source code of the paper should be provided if necessary.
6) the references listed at the end of the paper have been carefully consulted by the author when writing the manuscript, and are relevant to the research in this article.
7) It is not allowed to recommend reviewers who have interests with the author.
2. The publishing ethics of reviewers
1) Reviewers should adhere to the principles of fairness, impartiality, confidentiality and timeliness, and provide responsible review opinions based on the scientific and innovative nature of the manuscript, avoiding the influence of non academic factors such as the author(s)’s nationality, race, gender, religion, region, and status.
2) Reviewers should complete the review on time and provide specific review opinions. The review process should not delayed without reasons or be interfered with; If the review cannot be completed as scheduled, reviewers should reply or recommend others to review as soon as possible.
3) Reviewers cannot conceal their benefits (or conflicts) with the author(s) of the manuscript, or intentionally recommend other experts who have interests (or conflicts) with the author(s) to participate in the review.
4) Reviewers are not allowed to disclose or embezzle the content of the manuscript, nor can they use the right of review to seek illegitimate benefits.
3. The publishing ethics of editors
1) Editors should adhere to the principles of fairness, impartiality, confidentiality, and timeliness in handling each manuscript, and make the decision to accept or reject the manuscript based on its scientificity, innovation, readability and relevance to the journal.
2) Editors should abide by the principle of confidentiality and adopt the "double blind review system". They should not disclose relevant information about the authors and reviewers of the manuscript, as well as the content of the manuscript. They should not embezzle the content of unpublished manuscripts.
3) Editors should not be driven by benefits to interfere with peer review, and should strive to ensure the independent review by reviewers, so as to ensure the fairness and impartiality of peer review.
4) Editors shall not use their editorial rights to seek illegitimate benefits.
5) Editors should obtain the author's consent for critical modifications involving academic viewpoints.
4. Implement
This norm shall be implemented from the date of publication.
